The Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) internal Strategic Planning workshop is currently underway at the Rain Tree Lodge in Colo-i-Suva which will be held from 16 to 17 June, 2016.
The workshop facilitated by PIDF Team Leader Programme Management – Mark Borg, is to examine the successes and shortcomings of the PIDF over the past 9 months of coming into full force, and to better position the PIDF and staff to meet the expectations of the PIDF Charter and address the ten priorities identified Pacific Leaders in the context of the Agenda 2030 and its Sustainable Development Goals.
“This is a necessary exercise to enhance the knowledge of our staff on what impacts we as an organisation need to generate and exactly how we are going to do it in a strategic manner and this Strategic Planning exercise is also an opportunity for retrospection and introspection,” commented PIDF Secretary General, François Martel during his opening remarks of the 2 day workshop.
‘’We are positive that at the conclusion of this planning workshop PIDF would be in a position to better dispense our mandate and the end product of our 3 year Strategic Plan which will reinforce our strategic role within the Pacific region and also in international platforms as well,” further added Secretary General Martel.
Secretary General Martel also acknowledged the tremendous hard work that was undertaken from 2013 to set up PIDF by country members, partners and stakeholders and also commended the staff of PIDF for the quality of work and the efficient use of limited resource to deliver organisational expectations.
The draft strategic plan will be presented and reviewed by the PIDF Senior Officials Committee in early July and then tabled at the upcoming PIDF Leaders’ Summit in Honiara, Solomon Island which will be held from 12 to 13 July 2016.
